Dear Senator Lautenberg

Re: Electronic Cigarettes

Sen. Frank Lautenberg, D-N.J., ..............asked the FDA in March to pull electronic cigarettes off the market until they are proven safe. On Wednesday, Lautenberg said the products should be "taken off the market immediately" and consumer safety advocates prodded the agency to do more.

 

Senator Lautenberg, I have so many thoughts and comments to share with you on this,

I hardly know where to begin, but I will try to make my point as briefly as possible.

I do have one question, below in my closing thoughts, that I am requesting a response on your part - which can be sent to rhendrycks@yahoo.com

 

First of all - if I felt your concern over this product, was really due to a safety factor - it would be more understandable - but I do not believe that to be the case.

Instead, I believe it to be the case (once again) of lost tax revenue from traditional cigarettes, the never ending thrist for control and the market competition factor.

I have unfortunately smoked cigarettes for 30 plus years - reaching a point of almost two packs a day. But, thanks to the Electronic Cigarette with NO nicotine - I have now been smoke free for 30 days, and never plan to return to cigarettes.

Your big concern seems to be with FDA approval. Why not just demand that the marketing of the electronic cigarette state that it is......... NOT FDA APPROVED?

The Food and Drug Administration - the same administration that states themselves ......... that they are understaffed and under funded. The group that cannot keep our peanut butter and tomatoes safe or tell us which brand of dog/cat food is killing our animals - this is the group you are so concerned about the lack of approval - you must be joking.

It quite frankly Sir - is not your place nor job to be my parent, sibling or concerned friend.

I would suggest however that you review the following, before responding to my question, which is this:

 

Q: If you are successful in eliminating the electronic cigarette and I would return back to the harmful tobacco cigarette - will my family - in the future - then be able to hold YOU responsible for the outcome - instead of allowing me to make the decision?

Again, I suggest you read the following and consider my question with deep conviction on just what your role in my life should be.

It’s also worth noting that the same chemicals the FDA warns are present in e-cigarettes are also present in many of the nicotine replacement therapies the FDA approves of. What’s more, absolutely zero deaths have been attributed to e-cigarettes since their introduction. The same is also true of instances of lung cancer.
So what justification is there for distorting the evidence and deceiving the public about a product that has the potential to save lives? There isn’t any. This is nothing more than scare mongering on the part of the opportunistic health nannies at the FDA and their shills in the media.

Request:

I would like to thank Gary and all his work. He has brought a better quality of life to me. Just after a few daya smoking the E-cigarette, my breathing has improved to a better standard.

   I am a die hard smoker and have COPD. With the E-cigarette I am able to do more. Even my wife (a non smoker), lets me smoke around her.

 I would recommend the E-cigarette to anyone that is a smoker and cannot quit. Because it will improve their quality life.

Thanks,  Also I just sent you an interesting article re: FDA's hypocrisy in it's study of e-cigs. This is the only thing that has been successful in helping me quit and I've tried several times. I'm writing my congress reps to stop all this nonsense and asking my friends to do likewise. Meanwhile it's nice to know there's a good alternative to just buying cartridges. I've been using Johnson creek but they seem to have a spotty supply. That's why I wanted to try yours when me friend suggested it.

I don't want to buy from another country where you never know what's in the stuff. Thanks for any advice,

lp.. I've had a terrible time contacting anyone about some of the information that i've found on e-cigs.. I currently have and enjoy 2 DSE-901 units. I've been hearing that the liquid contains antifreeze, and that just scares me. Im using this system to cut out the smoke and fire (carcinogens) and then back off the Nicoline all together. my thought was just keep smoking these with less and less.. and enjoy the "process of smokeing" and the various flavors.

I'd hate to have to come up with another plan..
