Are E-Cigarettes Safe? That depends on who you ask! If you ask scientific researchers, the answer is “yes”. If you ask the FDA, they don’t know yet. If you ask certain politicians who are receiving tax money from Big Drug Companies invested in “Smoking Cessation Devices” or fines levied against Big Tobacco, the answer is "no".

Other politicians have rallied support for the electronic cigarette, in an effort to cut off ill-informed attempts to stonewall safer smoking from powerful industry lobbyists.

E-Cigarettes are widely used and accepted in China, England, The Netherlands, and India.

Some E-Cigarette History
The Electronic Cigarette was originally developed by Ruyan in Hong Kong in 2004. Ruyan commissioned researchers at Health New Zealand, headed by Dr. Murray Laugesen to conduct product safety reports on their electronic cigarette. Ruyons' electronic cigarette is the basic prototype and pattern used for most electronic cigarettes manufactured today, with slight variations used by different manufacturers. In other words, the health effects for the Ruyon electronic cigarette would be virtually identical when using a competitors brand, given that they perform the same way.

The Big Boys Play

Today, even Big-Box store Costco has taken to distributing electronic cigarettes through their webstore at Costco.com and the debate is heating up, with the public largely unaware of the controversy over their rights to choose better health. Do you feel more comfortable knowing Big Brother is watching out for you?

The Present

President Obama has signed tough legislation aimed at teens, and the tobacco economy seems to be fading, but make no mistake Big Tobacco and Big Pharma are still the big dogs on the block, and they have massive influence. So, being Smoker in Chief doesn't seem to slow President Obama down in his quest to unleash the FDA on your rights to choose a safer alternative to tobacco. Do you feel like these people? If you agree, you had better speak out.

The Future

If you want to preserve your right to choose your health, sign the Petition and let your voice be heard and counted. If you are really bold, contact the FDA and your Congressmen and Senators, and let them know your stand on electronic cigarettes. Don't go down silently. Speak up before we lose that right too!

The Loud FDA Mess: Recent Bunglings and media Bias
FDA's own report declares Electronic Cigarettes safer than tobacco, but evidently most of the media never read the entire report! Let's be logical, and surmise that tobacco specific impurities comprise 99.99% of a tobacco cigarette, and this report shows traces of the same tobacco specific impurities in an electronic cigarette as less than 1%. Add the known carcinogens added in manufacture to the carcinogens released from burning a tobacco cigarette, and the comparison becomes almost laughable. Is an electronic cigarette as safe as eating a carrot? Maybe not, but let's always compare apples to apples using tobacco cigarettes when determining if electronic cigarettes are safer. Again, politics and power are clouding reason and science.

Read the report and Conclusion for yourself.
